This Privacy Policy explains how Arion ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and protects information when you use the Arion website and application (the "Service"). We are committed to handling your information — and information about your horses — with care, transparency and respect.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — name, email address, date of birth and password when you create an Arion account. We collect your date of birth solely to confirm you meet our minimum-age requirement and comply with applicable age laws; we do not use it for any other purpose.
- Rider profile — riding experience, discipline, preferences and goals you share during onboarding.
- Horse information — details you enter about your horses, including identity, training profile and welfare notes.
- Ride and training data — rides you log, notes, uploaded videos or images and coach interactions.
- Device and usage data — device type, browser, approximate location and how you interact with the Service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and personalise the Arion coaching experience.
- Generate training suggestions, ride analysis and progress insights.
- Maintain your account and remember your preferences over time.
- Improve the Service, including model quality and reliability.
- Communicate with you about updates, features and support.
3. AI and Coaching Features
Arion uses AI to interpret your rides, goals and horse profile in order to offer personalised guidance. Content you share — such as notes, goals and uploaded videos — may be processed to generate coaching responses. We do not sell your personal content, and we take care to keep sensitive information private to your account.
4. Ride Videos and Model Improvement
By default, ride videos you upload to Arion are used in anonymised form to help improve the quality of our coaching and to develop future features such as live ride feedback. Anonymised means we strip account identifiers from the media used for this purpose.
- You can opt out at any time in Settings under "Help Improve Arion".
- When you opt out, we clear the contribution flag from your ride videos and remove them from our training dataset going forward. Opting out does not affect the quality of coaching you receive.
- We never sell your ride videos or share them with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.
5. Lesson Audio and Transcription
When you upload a lesson video, Arion processes the audio as well as the video. Spoken instruction in the recording — including your coach’s voice — is transcribed and distilled into a short summary of the training points covered. That summary is used to personalise your AI coaching so it can reinforce and build on what your coach worked on.
- Transcripts and lesson summaries are stored against the relevant ride in your account and are deleted when you delete the ride or your account.
- Because a lesson recording captures another person’s voice, you are responsible for confirming you have your coach’s permission for the lesson to be recorded and analysed by Arion before uploading.
- If your coach withdraws permission, delete the ride and its transcript and summary are removed with it.
6. Sharing of Information
We share information only in limited circumstances:
- With service providers who help us operate the Service under confidentiality obligations.
- When required by law, regulation or valid legal process.
- To protect the rights, safety and property of Arion, our users or the public.
- With your consent, for example when you choose to share a ride or report.
7. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No system is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data against unauthorised access, alteration or loss.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise these rights by contacting us using the details below.
10. Children
Arion is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. International Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place to protect your information when it is transferred internationally.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the Service.
